The most important factor in therapy is the therapeutic relationship.
For decades, research has shown that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor to successful therapy. My priority is building a strong and trusting therapeutic alliance with my clients to fostering lasting healing and change.
About Sydney Kunz, LPC
I truly believe in the power of the therapeutic space. As a therapist, my approach is warm, down-to-earth, collaborative, and individualized to you. I am an Integrative therapist, which means I utilize many different evidence-based treatments within my practice to cultivate the most healing and growth possible within our sessions and work with my clients to understand what does work for them within the therapeutic space. My educational background includes a Masters of Science (MS) in Professional Counseling from Mount Mary University and a Bachelors of Art (BA) in Psychology from Queens University of Charlotte. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) I am dedicated to furthering my knowledge on the latest modalities and treatment options for my clients to provide the highest quality of care.
Treatment Modalities :
-
Brainspotting (BSP) is a powerful, brain-based therapeutic approach designed to access and process unresolved trauma, emotional pain, and subconscious blocks. Developed by Dr. David Grand in 2003, Brainspotting uses eye positions to locate and release stored emotional and physical distress. This method helps individuals work through deep-seated issues in a way that traditional talk therapy may not fully address.

IFS is a therapeutic model developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz that views the mind as made up of different "parts" (aspects of yourself) each with their own thoughts, feelings, and motivations.
IFS provides a non-pathologizing framework—meaning it sees all parts as having a positive intention, even if their behaviors are maladaptive. This creates self-compassion and reduces internal conflict, which is especially helpful for trauma, anxiety, perfectionism, and self-esteem issues.
-
CBT is a widely used, evidence-based therapeutic approach that focuses on how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact. The core idea is that our thoughts influence how we feel and behave, and by changing unhelpful thought patterns, we can shift our emotional and behavioral responses.
My Practice Values :
-
My approach uses current evidence-based treatments to meet your needs and goals. I stay up-to-date on current research and findings to best serve you through the therapy process.
-
A holistic approach considers all aspects that make up an individual and acknowledge the interconnectedness between them. By emphasizing the whole-self, it allows you to begin to navigate life more authentically and align yourself with what matters most to you.
-
As humans we inherently need connection through human relationships. By taking a deeper look at the relationships that have been impactful in our development and attachment, we can identify how they have affected us today. Relational therapy also acknowledges how important the therapeutic relationship is in promoting lasting healing and change.
-
You know yourself best. It is important that we work together, so you can get the most out of this therapy experience. I invite my clients to give feedback on what is and isn’t working, so that we can work together to achieve your goals.
